Who am I?
Hey! I’m Veronika – born in Latvia, studied in Frankfurt. My background is in business law, with a focus on labor law. Why that, of all things? Because it’s about people – real challenges, real decisions, real development. That always fascinated me more than dry theory.
After a few years working in the legal field, one thing became clear: I needed a fresh start – not out of frustration, but out of genuine curiosity.
What’s my role at smartist.one?
I’m brand new to the team – stepping into IT recruiting with open ears, bright eyes, and a steep learning curve. Right now, I’m mainly exploring the jungle of recruiting: terminology, processes, tools, people, and matches – all of it new, all of it exciting.
And even if I don’t (yet) have a “closed deal” story to tell, I’m determined to get there soon. Challenge accepted.
Why smartist.one?
Because this place is full of real people. With real stories, a healthy dose of self-irony, and a shared goal of making recruiting human again. I was hooked from the start: small team, meaningful work, a lot of trust, and just the right amount of chaos – exactly my vibe.
Favorite moment so far?
Honestly? No big aha moment – just a lot of small ones. That feeling of jumping in, starting from scratch, learning every day – and realizing: I can just be myself here. That’s not a given, but here, it’s normal.
What do I do after work?
I like variety – no two days should feel the same. Gymnastics, piano, flute, good food, bad TV, good books – or just sleep. Routine is like still water to me: fine, but not every day, please.
